Gracious and loving God,
As we gather in Your presence tonight, we bringing our victories and our struggles, our joys and our wounds. You know every corner of our hearts, including the places where fear, resentment, pride, and comparison can quietly take root.
In the story of Cain and Abel, You remind us that the choices we make matter. You call us to master the things that pull us away from You rather than allowing them to master us. When anger rises, teach us compassion. When jealousy whispers, remind us that Your love and Your blessings are never in short supply. Help us celebrate one another instead of competing with one another.
Lord, You asked Cain, “Where is your brother?” That question still echoes today. Open our eyes to the people around us—the lonely, the hurting, the forgotten, and those carrying burdens no one else can see. Make us a church that answers Your question by loving our neighbors, caring for one another, and reflecting the compassion of Christ in everything we do.
And thank You, God, that even when we stumble, Your grace continues to pursue us. Just as You showed mercy in the midst of brokenness, thank You for the hope we have through Jesus. Your forgiveness is greater than our failures, Your mercy stronger than our mistakes, and Your love never gives up on us.
It is tempting Father to make our faith simply one aspect of our lives that we give attention to on specific days and specific times. Help us make it an integral part of every area of our lives. Send us from this place as peacemakers, encouragers, and faithful servants every day of our lives.
We pray all these things in the powerful and life-giving name of Jesus.
