God of all creation,
We come to You today in a world that feels busy, noisy, and full of distractions—much like the city Paul walked through in Athens. There are so many voices competing for our attention, so many things we can chase after, so many “altars” we build without even realizing it. And yet, in the middle of it all, You are still there—steady, present, and calling us back to what is true.
You said that if we love You, we will keep Your commandments. And that can feel big, even overwhelming. But You didn’t leave us to figure it out alone. You promised the Advocate—the Spirit of truth—to be with us, in us, guiding us. Help us recognize His presence not just here in this service, but in our everyday lives—in our work, our families, our conversations, and even in our struggles.
Lord, open our eyes to the places where we’ve settled for less than You. Where we’ve put our trust in success, comfort, control, or things that ultimately leave us empty. Gently turn us back toward You—not with guilt, but with grace. Remind us that You are not unknown. You have made Yourself known through Jesus—through His life, His love, His sacrifice, and His resurrection.
And God, give us courage. Courage like Paul had—to speak truth with love, to meet people where they are, and to point toward You in a way that is real and relevant. Help us to be people who reflect Your heart in how we live—people who bring light into dark places, hope into uncertainty, and kindness into every interaction.
We lift up those in our community and congregation who need You in a special way today. Be near to them, Lord. Bring healing where there is pain, peace where there is anxiety, and strength where there is weariness.
And as we leave this place today, remind us that You are not far away. You are with us, walking beside us, inviting us into a deeper relationship with You each day. Help us to respond—to turn toward You, to trust You, and to live in a way that reflects Your love to the world around us.
We pray all of this in the name of Jesus, who makes You known to us.
